Workman's Desk skewed shot Maya, mental ray November 2010
This is a scene of a workman’s desk, as if he left his project for the night. There is a mech bird, which he is re-wiring slash fixing in the center of the composition. This was a six week project from one of my four classes. I spent about a week and a half concepting out the bird and the scene. I spent around 100 hours modeling. The rest of the time, not spent on other classes, was dedicated to texturing, lighting and rendering. This was all done in maya. I rendered 3 passes, an occlusion, a color, and a depth map using mental ray. The passes were then put into nuke, so that the depth map could be used; creating a depth of field look. I made the textures more desaturated because I wanted that “old fashioned look” as well as letting the model stand out. I'm pleased that I was able to capture the mood that I wanted with a simple lighting and texture scheme. Any critique is very welcomed.
